Stay informed about important events and organization activity with Cadence's notification system. This guide shows you how to customize your notification preferences.
Notification Types
Cadence can send you notifications for:
- Event Invitations: When you're invited to a new event
- Event Updates: When event details change
- Event Reminders: Reminders before events start
- Organization Invitations: When someone invites you to join an organization
- Member Activity: When organization members join or leave
- Availability Responses: When people mark their availability (optional)
- Event Finalized: When an event time is confirmed
Notification Channels
Discord Notifications
If you've connected Discord, you can receive notifications directly in Discord. These appear as DMs or in configured Discord channels.
In-App Notifications
Notifications also appear in the Cadence app. You'll see a notification badge on the bell icon when you have unread notifications.
Configuring Notifications
- Go to Settings → Notifications
- Toggle each notification type on or off
- For each enabled type, choose:
- Channel (Discord, In-App, or Both)
- Frequency (Immediate, Daily Digest, Weekly Digest)
- Quiet hours (when not to send notifications)
- Save your preferences
Notification Preferences by Organization
You can set different notification preferences for each organization:
- Go to the organization's settings page
- Click on "Notification Preferences"
- Configure organization-specific notification settings
- These override your global settings for that organization
Quiet Hours
Set quiet hours to avoid notifications during specific times:
- Choose your quiet hours (e.g., 10 PM - 8 AM)
- During quiet hours, non-urgent notifications are delayed
- Urgent notifications (like event cancellations) still come through
- You can set different quiet hours for weekdays and weekends
Best Practices
- Enable important notifications: Keep event invitations and reminders on
- Use daily digests: For less urgent notifications like availability responses
- Set quiet hours: Avoid being woken up by notifications
- Review regularly: Adjust settings as your needs change
