Cadence's Discord integration is one of its most powerful features. It allows you to sign in with Discord and receive notifications directly in Discord, making coordination seamless.
Connecting Your Discord Account
When you first sign in to Cadence, you'll use Discord OAuth:
- Click "Sign in with Discord" on the Cadence homepage
- You'll be redirected to Discord's authorization page
- Review the permissions Cadence is requesting
- Click "Authorize" to connect your accounts
- You'll be redirected back to Cadence with your account created
What We Access
Cadence requests the following from Discord:
- Basic Profile: Username, avatar, and user ID
- Email: Your Discord email address (if available)
- Guilds (Servers): To show which Discord servers you're in (optional, for future features)
We never post messages on your behalf or access your DMs. All permissions are clearly displayed when you authorize.
Discord Notifications
Once connected, you'll receive Discord notifications for:
- Event Invitations: When someone invites you to an event
- Event Updates: When event details change
- Event Reminders: Reminders before events start
- Team Invitations: When someone invites you to join a team
- Availability Responses: When team members mark their availability (optional)
Managing Notifications
You can control which Discord notifications you receive:
- Go to Settings → Notifications
- Toggle individual notification types on or off
- Choose notification frequency (immediate, daily digest, etc.)
- Save your preferences
Disconnecting Discord
If you want to disconnect your Discord account:
- Go to Discord → User Settings → Authorized Apps
- Find Cadence in the list
- Click "Revoke" to disconnect
Note: Disconnecting Discord will prevent you from signing in. You'll need to reconnect to continue using Cadence.
Troubleshooting
Not receiving notifications? Check that:
- Your Discord account is still connected
- Notifications are enabled in your Cadence settings
- Discord notifications aren't muted in Discord itself
- You haven't blocked the Cadence bot (if applicable)
