Creating Organizations

Organizations

Organizations are the foundation of Cadence. They help you organize events, manage members, and keep everything in one place. This guide will help you create and manage your organizations.

What Are Organizations?

Organizations in Cadence are groups of people who coordinate events together. Each organization has:

  • Members with different roles and permissions
  • Events created within that organization
  • Settings and preferences specific to that organization
  • Optional subteams for larger organizations

Creating a New Organization

  1. From your dashboard, click "Create Organization" or the "+" button
  2. Enter an organization name (e.g., "Valorant Squad" or "Weekly Gaming Group")
  3. Add an optional description to explain what the organization is for
  4. Set your organization's default timezone
  5. Choose initial privacy settings (who can see and join the organization)
  6. Click "Create Organization"

Organization Settings

After creating an organization, you can configure:

  • Privacy: Public (anyone can join), Private (invite only), or Restricted (approval required)
  • Default Timezone: The timezone used for events unless specified otherwise
  • Member Limits: Based on your plan (Free: 8 members, Premium: 10+ members)
  • Subteams: Create subteams for larger organizations (Premium feature)

Inviting Members

Once your organization is created, you'll want to invite members:

  1. Go to your organization's settings or members page
  2. Click "Invite Members"
  3. Enter Discord usernames or email addresses
  4. Choose their initial role (Member, Admin, etc.)
  5. Send the invitations

Invited members will receive a notification and can accept the invitation to join your organization.

Organization Roles

Organizations have different roles with different permissions:

  • Owner: Full control - can manage members, settings, and delete the organization
  • Admin: Can create events, manage members, and modify settings
  • Member: Can create events and view organization information
  • Viewer: Can only view events and mark availability (read-only)

Best Practices

  • Use clear names: Make organization names descriptive so members know what they're for
  • Set timezones: If your organization spans multiple timezones, set a default and communicate it
  • Start small: You can always add more members later
  • Use subteams: For large organizations, create subteams for different squads or divisions
